Systems analysis / CIS 270 final project

Indie Game Release Information System

A systems analysis project for a proposed website focused on upcoming indie game releases. I planned how developers would submit games, how visitors would find release information, and how moderation, comments, reports, and notifications would work.

01

Overview

Indie game release information can be spread across store pages, social posts, and small communities. That makes it easy for visitors to miss release dates, price changes, platform details, or launch updates.

The proposed system puts that information in one place. Verified developers could submit games and release details, visitors could search upcoming releases and interact with listings, and staff could review submissions, moderate community activity, generate reports, and send status or release notifications.

02

What I worked on

  • Requirements and problem definition
  • Feasibility and budget analysis
  • PERT and Gantt scheduling
  • Context, Level 0, and Level 1 data flow diagrams
  • Crow's Foot entity relationship diagram
  • Sample staff reports and screen mockups
  • Project management, communication, standards, and scope planning

03

System design

The DFDs move from the overall system boundary into the five main processes, then into more detailed Level 1 flows. The presentation uses Publish Release Information as the Level 1 example, while the full report contains all five Level 1 diagrams.

Screen designs

I created two basic system-screen prototypes to show how the proposed workflow could look without presenting the project as a finished website.

Sample reports

The project includes simple staff reports rather than full dashboards. They show how release information and moderation activity could be reviewed.

Feasibility and planning

The feasibility section estimated $535 in one-time costs and $100 per month in recurring costs. The proposed development schedule was 13 weeks, with A-B-D-F-G-H identified as the critical path.

Tools and project files

  • Draw.io
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

The webpage contains the main diagrams and mockups so the project can be understood without downloading anything. The full report contains the complete analysis and all Level 1 DFDs.

The editable Word report is not published here. The PDF is the public report version.
